I am so glad you have come to visit my world of quilts and quilting. I am passionate about quilting - from buying the fabric through the last stitch. From beginner to expert, quilting should be fun and make you happy. It's a wonderful journey.

CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS
CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS: I must have made at least 100 of these ornaments over a 2 year period, selling most of them at craft fairs. They were not quilted, but were small quilt squares sewn to a backing and stuffed. I sold them for $3 each and couldn't keep up. These particular ones were given to a distant cousin and his wife for Christmas 1989.
NOEL BANNER
NOEL BANNER: Machine pieced, appliqued, and quilted while living in Maine during 1990 and 1991. I must have made a dozen of these and sold most of them at craft shows. The one shown here was a Christmas gift to my grandma. Finished size was 12" x 20". I have no idea where it is since she died. The top picture is of it complete before going to her, and the bottom one is it hanging on the mantel at her house. (#63)

LIZZIE 2 (an Elizabethan themed quilt)
LIZZIE 2 (an Elizabethan themed quilt):
These are some more of the blocks that were made from the pattern "Elizabeth I and Her Ladies" that was put on this blog earlier. The blocks were fun to make since they could be heavily embellished with embroidery, lace, and beads.
It also gave me a chance to use "non-quilting" fabrics like taffeta, silk, satin, and velvet. Each of the blocks is different - not just because of the fabrics, but also the various embroidery designs. Add in lace and beads and there is a totally different look and feel than modern patchwork quilts.
The pillow and wallhanging pictured were machine quilted by RLM in April 2002.
The quilt is #324 in my quilt scrapbooks. Because it was only brought out once to show off, it looked and felt new. I sold it in 2019.

SAMPLER (Handquilted)
SAMPLER: The blocks were made in 1992 by the quilt guild in Montana. I don't remember how, but I got the blocks so I added the alternate blocks and the borders. I hand quilted it in Dec. 1996. Finished size: 70" x 80". Gift to my sister in July 2000. (#175)

VETERAN QUILT
VETERAN QUILT: This one was pieced using left over 5" squares from another project. It was tied by another woman, and them I bound it. It was donated in 2005 thru the local quilt guild to Quilts for Wounded Soldiers program.
HURRICANE KATRINA QUILTS
HURRICANE KATRINA QUILTS:
The last week of August 2005 several boxes of fabric and scraps plus 2 full rolls of polyester batting were delivered to my house to use "as I saw fit". Thankfully there was room in the workroom to sort and stack all this while I tried to figure out how to get it all organized and made into quilts. The same week, I had gone thru my personal fabric stash and moved a lot out to the workroom to make donation or soldier quilts.
When the news showed the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, I knew why the Lord had supplied all this at this time. Between Sept. 3 and Oct. 15, 2005 HM and I worked literally around the clock (around family, work, church, and school) to make cot sized quilts to go to the needy in that ravaged area. Most were sent down with the Salvation Army, but the remainder went down with people we knew who went to help out. Our final tally showed 70 cot size quilts made and donated.
We could not have done it without the supplies, so thank you again to those who helped in every way. The below photo was taken on 9-9-05 and there were 22 quilts ready to go. We didn't get any other photos.

Needless to say, I really did not end up having to organize or store the supplies - they were used and gone and I am so glad to have had a part in this wonderful help to hurting people.
VETERAN QUILTS
VETERAN QUILTS: These 2 lap quilts were given to the Quilts for Wounded Soldiers program in Feb. 2008 via the local quilt guild. I pieced the multi colored one, CS pieced the purple one, HM tied both, and I did the binding on them. It is such a privilege to be able to do this for the wounded soldiers who are coming thru Andrews AFB.

CHRISTMAS STARS
CHRISTMAS STARS: This is almost a duplicate of #323 except the size (this one is a queen). Made it for my in-laws for Christmas 2002. I pieced it and RLM machine quilted it. (#332)
ONE PATCH
ONE PATCH QUILT: Pieced for a new baby in the family in 2001. Congrats to my sister in law and her husband. (#295)

VETERAN QUILTS
VETERAN QUILTS: I think these are the first 2 veteran quilts that I was knowingly connected with. The note in my scrapbook says, "..volunteer group nationwide has started making lap size quilts for the wounded soldiers coming back from Iraq/Afghanistan. I personally think this is a very important thing to do - I am opposed to the politics of this war, but have no issue with our troops..." I picked out the fabrics and they were machine quilted by RLM. Given thru the local quilt guild in Feb. 2002.
Veteran Quilts
VETERAN QUILTS: I made these 2 veteran quilts and donated them thru the local quilt guild for Quilts for Wounded Soldiers in January 2010.
PANSY SAMPLER (Handquilted)
PANSY SAMPLER: The blocks were pieced by various members of the local quilt guild in Indiana during July and August of 1997. It was hand quilted during Sept. 1997 - April 1998 mostly by myself, but there was also a quilting bee for a few hours that involved JN, HD, KD, and CB. It earned a first place ribbon at the local fair in 1999. Size is 84" x 98". Cotton fabrics for top and backing with poly batting. Each block had a piece of the same pansy fabric. (#221)
ONE PATCH QUILTS
ONE PATCH QUILTS: I made these 2 lap size quilts for my in-laws for Christmas 2004 so they would each have one for their recliner. They have very similar fabrics, but the border on one is pine cones and the other a green and red paisley. Machine quilted by RLM. (#346 and #347)
TOILE 4 PATCH
TOILE 4 PATCH: I pieced this quilt during 2008-2009 from old looking and actual reproduction fabrics. The toile is a yellow background with red houses and people figures. The quilt was inspired by a quilt by Martha Washington in 1785 (as pictured on page 45 of Quilts of Virginia 1607-1899). The quilt is 74" x 92". It is very busy, but has a very old fashioned look to it. Machine quilted by RLM. (#549)
ROMAN STRIPE CHARM QUILT
ROMAN STRIPE CHARM QUILT: I pieced this one during Nov. 1995 to Jan. 1996 - other than the borders all the pieces are different fabrics. I like the challenge of finding/trading enough scraps to have enough to make a top out of all different fabrics. The finished size is 96" x 75". It was machine quilted by MG in Jan. 2001. Given to male relative. (#292)
VETERAN QUILT
VETERAN QUILT: Another quilt for the Quilts for Wounded Soldiers program. Lap size. Log cabin pattern. Donated in July 2009 via the local guild.
VETERAN QUILT
VETERAN QUILT: Here's another lap size quilt for a wounded hero. This one was done in Feb. 2009 for the Quilts for Wounded Soldiers program and was donated to them thru the local quilt guild. Supplies were all donated.

MEMORY QUILT
MEMORY QUILT: I made this quilt for my "Air Force brat" son out of stripes and patches from his Dad's uniforms after his discharge in 1991. The size is 42" x 34". The center is a fabric panel of eagles. It was a fun project to do. On the back is a list of bases and the years we were there. Gave it to him for Christmas of 1996. Has been borrowed back and displayed at several local quilt shows. (#173)
VETERAN QUILT
VETERAN QUILT - This lap quilt was one in October 2009 and donated via the local quilt guild to the Quilts for Wounded Soldiers program, which hands these out at Andrews AFB. Thanks to those who donated supplies.
VETERAN QUILTS
This batch of 7 lap quilts went to Christians Serving Veterans (CSV) in June 2010, who give the quilts to veterans in "soldier" homes in (usually) the Ohio and Michigan areas. CSV goes into these homes and does a patriotic service, talks to the various vets and hands out quilts (according to how many they have available) who really need some encouragement. They are doing a great service for the forgotten vets in that area. Again, thank you to the ladies who helped me make these and to those who donated all the supplies.
VETERANS QUILTS
I made these 4 lap quilts in April of 2009. All the supplies and time were donated. I sent them to Quilts for Wounded Soldiers and they were distributed at Andrews AFB. The number of soldiers coming back who will need medical care and rehab is depressing - hopefully all the donated quilts will remind our heroes that they are cared about.
