WHOLECLOTH WALLHANGING (Handquilted)

Whole cloth Hanging - My first whole cloth quilt. Finished size is 22" square. Muslin, poly batting, and navy blue quilting thread. I taped the pattern and the top layer of muslin up to a window and traced it off. I love to hand quilt, so this was a fun experience, and imagine, no seam lines to work around. Completed in July 1991. (#84)

LOG CABIN

LOG CABIN

The 16 blocks were made by the local quilt guild in 1999 which I won in a drawing. I assembled the top and had it machine quilted in 2000 by MG.

 Finished size is 41" square.

Autumn is my favorite season and I love making quilted items to celebrate fall.

At the local county fair, this earned both a first place ribbon. I really never intended to enter anything in the fair, but my kids were in 4-H and had entries so they wanted me to put something in the fair too.

LEFTOVERS (or have to use up more scraps)

LEFTOVERS:

For a couple years up to 2000, I traded approx. 10,000 -  3" squares with people all over the world with few duplications. It was so fun to get mail and receive an envelope of squares in trade for others - kind of like Christmas many days a week.   I wanted to make a quilt with 2,000 different fabrics. The blocks kept coming, so I just kept trading, and eventually ended up with approx. 8,000 leftover squares.

I made 2 actual 2000 charm quilts (actually 2000 different fabrics in each one), but there were so many blocks left that I worked them into other projects.  So much fun.

I pieced this one in 2000 and it was machine quilted in 2001 by MG.

Used some of the charm squares and some scraps from my own stash.

Finished size is 68" x 76".

Gave to daughter.

CHRISTMAS STAR QUILT

CHRISTMAS STAR QUILT - My great quilting buddy SB gave me this wonderful pattern and I have made several quilts from it. This one was made for a family member. I pieced it in Sept. - Nov. 1999 and had it machine quilted in 2002 by RLM. Finished size: 80" square. It is cotton with poly batting. This quilt was a great way to use up scraps of Christmas fabric. Given to a family member. (#323)

IN THE GARDEN

IN THE GARDEN - This is a simple quilt and was given to a family member when complete. I pieced it during 1996 - 1998 in Indiana. Several of us here got together in Oct 1998 and had a "tie the quilts" workday, which is how this one got done. Many hands make for lighter work. Finished size is 74" x 90". (#230)

PATCHWORK ROMANCE

PATCHWORK ROMANCE - This quilt was machine pieced and hand appliqued from 1990 to 1997 in Maine, Montana and Indiana. The center heart section was a pattern (Quilter's Newsletter Mag.?) that my Maine quilting buddy (SB) and I did out of the same fabrics. It was machine quilted in 2002 by RLM, and given to a family member. Finished size is 60" x 74". (#330)

DEVIL'S CLAW

Devil's Claw - These blocks were given to me by an elderly man in 2006 who was cleaning out the family house's attic and as he is the last in his family and has no children, he wanted these family heirlooms to go to someone who would care for them. They are documented c. 1870 and are from old shirting fabric. He actually gave me several sets of blocks, all from the same time period and all in wonderful condition. I have them stored carefully and will eventually get around to making them into finished tops.

This one is in grays, blacks, and dark blues. The blocks are hand pieced. I added sashing and posts from 2 different Civil War reproduction prints. I assembled the top in the early spring of 2009 and had it machine quilted in April 2009.

Block size is 12". Finished quilt size is 64" x 76". (#520)

The second view of this quilt hanging on the fence includes the neighbor's beautiful maple tree in all it's autumn glory.

ROMAN STRIPE TABLE RUNNER

Roman Stripe Table Runner - I pieced this in Feb. 2009. It is 15" wide and 58" long. I made it to go on a antique cupboard in my kitchen. It is red, blue, and yellow. It was machine quilted in Feb. 2009 by RLM. The outside border is a reproduction Civil War fabric. (#490)
