VETERAN QUILTS

VETERAN QUILTS: These 7 lap quilts were made to be given out to hospitalized veterans by Christians Serving Veterans (CSV). These heroes paid a high price to defend my freedoms and I wish I could honor them more. Given in July 2015. The quilts are basically a size (approx. 45" x 60") that can be used as a lap quilt for wheelchair bound or bed bound veterans. Thank you to all our vets for your service.

BOYS MISSION HOME QUILTS (20)

BOYS MISSION HOME QUILTS:

 The teen girls at church were asked to do 20 twin bunk size quilts back in Jan. 2015 for a boys home that church has connections with here in Indiana (JH). They were completed July 20, 2015.


I helped the girls all along the way, but the girls worked hard on this project and had a wonderful attitude to help others. I am privileged to be allowed to "lead" these girls as they learn sewing skills, how to work together as a team, how to trust the Lord for supplies, and how to have a sharing attitude.

REALLY SCRAPPY QUILT:

 So what does a person do with all those left over "too small" or unusually shaped pieces of fabric that are left over from so many projects?? Well, in this case, I made them into blocks and a strip pieced border. Very colorful and cheerful.

 The quilt is 70" square, and was machine quilted by RLM. Self bound (meaning the backing is pulled to the front and sewn down). In April this quilt headed to the Philippines with its' missionary owners.

CRISIS PREGNANCY QUILTS (10)

These 10 baby quilts were donated to the local Crisis Pregnancy Center on 12/17/2014.

These baby quilts were done by the teen girls group at church. They are doing such a good job of putting these together and having such a wonderful attitude about helping others. This group of girls have been a joy to work with.

The 9 Patch quilts use 9 9.5" blocks and a 6" border all around. I usually cut the blocks and the girls have a great time picking the color in blocks and borders they like.  These quilts are tied with yarn, and meant to be used and loved.

The teen girls made 11 baby quilts since the last batch and we turned them in early in Feb 2015.

It is such a privilege to be a part of their ministry. Not only are they doing something productive for the community, but their personal sewing skills are growing steadily and this is something they can use their entire lives.

Plus the local guild donated these 2 to go with ours to Crisis Pregnancy Center - thank you.

GIRLS MISSION HOME QUILTS (24) TO MEXICO

My daughter and I had the privilege and blessing to make 24 bunk size quilts for a girls mission home in Mexico that is run by a missionary family (J & LB) that church has connections to when they were here in November 2013. Each quilt is different so each girl will have a distinctive one for herself. We only got photos of 12, but they are all the same pattern, just varied blocks and borders from the donated fabric we have.

FOUNDATIONS

FOUNDATIONS: This quilt started out as an entirely different quilt, but the longer I looked at the planned design, the less I liked it. So, typical of quilters, I rearranged the pieces and fabrics and came up with this design. I am sure it is known by a different name, but I was thinking our our American heritage as I was working with these reproduction fabrics and decided that the while I love the foundation of our country, I am not real thrilled with the current direction it is headed. We have lost site of the moral and Biblical values this country was founded on, and that loss has not improved our country.

I pieced this quilt while in Caribou, Maine in Sept. 2012 and it was machine quilted by RLM in Dec. 2012. The top is 100% cottons, the batting polyester, and the backing is navy blue linen. I finally got the binding on it in Dec. 2013. Size is: 51" square. (#1015)
